Device type poll
In preparation for releasing a preliminary testing version ( best to test a little bit at a time instead of all at once, IMO ) I am trying to figure out what kinda devices people have access to.
I hope to have a testing version uploaded by the end of November at the latest.
Please do not answer this poll if you currently do not have an android device -- and do not answer the Density and screen size question unless you definitively know it in those terms.

Do the words "adb logcat" mean anything to you?

I hope I can help out on this project. Thank you for taking it on.

Yeah, it's really frustrating that there is *NO* easy way to dig that info out -- I'd have had to make a tiny app you would have to install just to get that info, and I didn't want to do *that*

Also, not sure on my size/density either :/

(And I attempted to find my size/density basically everywhere -- manual, phone site, Google at large -- and failed.)
I am also aware that it's extremely unlikely that using the debug bridge would break my phone, but I've done some amazingly bad things to technology by trying to work with code just due to sheer bad luck ... my dad does some dev stuff, though, I'll see if he has thoughts on it.

( I hate how damn hard it is to figure that out, I'm gonna have to end up doing a bunch of looking specs up and doing math )

They've got an update to 2.1 available for the Xperia X10i, so I can't imagine that the X8 would be very far behind; the only major difference is the screen size, AFAIK.

Forgot to add my Xperia X10i has a 480 x 854 pixels (WVGA) / 4" capacitive touchscreen. No, I'm not sure exactly what density and screen size that counts as either...

Has a listing of ppi for a lot of phones.
http://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html - specifically "Table 1" has common screen resolutions and their "type".

Thanks for wanting to do this on Android, everybody wants to push the iPhone market first, Android should get equal loving since it's getting up there in users.

I am not technically brilliant, as you can probably tell. I just like my phone and know how to get it to do what I want it to!

A working Dreamwidth app would be awesome! There used to be an LJ app on the Market that could connect to other servers, but it was pulled at some point. Also, it crashes if you're using the physical keyboard.

Cant say how accurate it is since I don't know, but maybe...
And I'd be absolutely happy to try an DW Android app.
